This morning the River City Shooters Club mourns the loss of one of our own. Retired Officer Nathan Murray passed away quietly at 10:00 pm last night, due to complications from cancer and a recent bout with pneumonia.
As many of you know, Nate was wounded on while on duty in 2003, along with 3 other officers; shot while on his knees tending to one of his wounded brothers in blue. The shot shattered his jaw, and damaged an artery that, 20 months later, caused a stoke leaving him paralyzed with partial brain damage.
Nate was fond of saying, “you have to accept it because that’s just the way it is, you work with the cards the way they’ve been dealt.” Nathan never recovered from his injuries and for the last 12 years Nate has lived that motto, inspiring everyone around him, with his tireless hard work in recovery, tenacity, love and sense of humor; active with his church, shooting matches when he was able, and attending police events – refusing to give up the life he loved, and lived, and fought for every day.
Funeral service information will be shared when arrangements have been made. Our hearts go out to his family, please keep them in your prayers.
Officer Nathan Murray, once a servant of the people of San Antonio, is now a servant for God. Your watch is over, Sir, rest in peace.
