The River City Shooters Club would like to thank EVERYONE who helped make the River City Shootout a HUGE success!

We have a fantastic group of team members and friends of the club, who tirelessly worked the match both last weekend setting up and this weekend doing everything from running squads to running errands. Without your help this match wouldn’t have happened. A special thanks to Danny Garza, Robert Powell, and Forrest McCord who drove in from out of town to help RO the match – Thank You!!

We’re grateful to our match sponsors. The gift of your donations, IN EXCESS OF $5,500., helped to attract shooters and made the reward of participation oh so sweet!! Your GENEROUS sponsorship enabled us to BRING IT in every way – THANK YOU!!

We’d like to encourage everyone to visit our match sponsors and thank them personally, both with your words and your wallet. We are proud to endorse their products and services, not just because of their generosity, but because WE use them and we know you’re in for a first rate experience!!

MGM Targets                          Barnes Precision            Akai Custom Guns
Alamo Tactical                        Walther                             Precision Delta
Lone Star Innovations         Phoenix Trinity

Most of all, thank you to all of our shooters!! We enjoyed the company of old friends and new ones, you are a great group of athletes; safe, professional, helpful and courteous, a testament to the joy of shooting sports everywhere, and the sole reason any of us do this. Without you we wouldn’t be here, and neither would our sponsors – THANK YOU!!

These are some photos from the match, courtesy of Rick Medina. We are grateful for his coverage of this and other events; if you’re ever in need of an experienced and talented photographer/videographer be sure to check out Chozen1Media.com, his work speaks for itself. Enjoy!!

Lastly, thank you, Kyle Riojas! You had a vision and you brought it to life; engaging stage designs, securing match sponsors, and fun and fair participation for all. You went out of your way as Match Director to make sure that everyone had what they needed and had a great time. People left talking about “River City Shootout 2016” and that’s the best compliment of all. For everything you’ve done and continue to do – THANK YOU!

UPDATE – MATCH CANCELLED
Hurricane Patricia has made landfall in Mexico, and that category 5 storm is sending some serious nastiness our way. Atiscosa has already issued a flash flood warning effective immediately, through Sunday morning – in the interest of safety for everyone involved, the River City Shooters Club has cancelled this Sunday’s USPSA match at the Blackhawk Shooting Range. If you have to be out and about this weekend please stear clear of low water crossings, as you all know they can be swift and deadly in So. Texas!! Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Mexico, struggling through what is already considered the worst storm in history.

Be safe everyone!!

GSSF webpage cover photo

The countdown continues… in less than 15 days the Blackhawk Shooting Range will proudly sponsor the GSSF match, hosted by the River City Shooters Club!!

“The GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation is a safe, fun, family-oriented organization devoted to the responsible use of GLOCK firearms and encouraging participation in the shooting sports. Competitions, across the United States, provide opportunities for shooters of all skill levels and experience to compete together in simple, but challenging courses of fire. GSSF does not require the expensive equipment and extensive training often demanded by most other types of firearms competitions.

Started in 1991, GSSF has grown to include almost 100,000 members and now organizes more than 40 outdoor and over 210 indoor shooting matches each year—an unprecedented number. Almost anyone can join GSSF, but if you want to participate in a sanctioned sport shooting match, the only requirement is that you must compete with a GLOCK pistol. The only other requirement is that all of our competitors have fun! So we make that more of a “sure thing” by rewarding cash prizes, and GLOCK pistols, in multiple categories.

There are usually only two facial expressions observed at every match—aiming and smiling. Bring the whole family out to just one GSSF competition and you’re all likely to leave hooked!”

8/18/15 UPDATE: “Nathan’s memorial service will be this Saturday, August 22 at 3:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary Sanctuary – 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX, 78232. There will also be a burial on Monday, August 24 at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas, but that time has not been set yet.”
****************************************************

This morning the River City Shooters Club mourns the loss of one of our own. Retired Officer Nathan Murray passed away quietly at 10:00 pm last night, due to complications from cancer and a recent bout with pneumonia.

As many of you know, Nate was wounded on while on duty in 2003, along with 3 other officers; shot while on his knees tending to one of his wounded brothers in blue. The shot shattered his jaw, and damaged an artery that, 20 months later, caused a stoke leaving him paralyzed with partial brain damage.

Nate was fond of saying, “you have to accept it because that’s just the way it is, you work with the cards the way they’ve been dealt.” Nathan never recovered from his injuries and for the last 12 years Nate has lived that motto, inspiring everyone around him, with his tireless hard work in recovery, tenacity, love and sense of humor; active with his church, shooting matches when he was able, and attending police events – refusing to give up the life he loved, and lived, and fought for every day.

Funeral service information will be shared when arrangements have been made. Our hearts go out to his family, please keep them in your prayers.

Officer Nathan Murray, once a servant of the people of San Antonio, is now a servant for God. Your watch is over, Sir, rest in peace.

**************************************************
We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support shown by his family and friends in social media, and by friends of the range offering sympathies and kind words for his family and teammates. We are so very grateful. Your posts have been a blessing to all who have read, thank you. These are but a few of the photos shared across the internet, we credit his family, friends and those that loved him most for sharing these touching memories. Nate, you are so, so loved. You will live on in the hearts of every life you touched.

MATCH FINAL UPDATE:
Many thanks to everyone who shared their sunny Sunday with us, 57 of Texas’ finest shooters showed us how it’s done! Special congratulations to all the division winners – as always, we thank you for supporting RCSC, and shooting sports in Texas. Have a GREAT week y’all!
