It turned out to be a beautiful day for shooting at the range today. Our deepest appreciation goes out to the RCSC team members who volunteered time away from their families to make this match possible, and our sincere thanks to the competitors who traveled from near and far to shoot the match with us!!

Michael Kocsis and Sophia Parafina are your Match Directors and they’ve chosen 4 diverse stages, plus a surprise 31 round field course. Whew, what a weekend!! We’re genuinely overwhelmed with praise for the 2nd Annual River City Shootout by MGM, and have thoroughly enjoyed all the videos and photos shared by our competitors. We put a lot of love into this match, and to know that everyone had such a great time made everything worth it!! YOU ALL are why we’re here – THANK YOU!! We are literally still catching our collective breaths, and digesting all of the constructive comments on how to make this match even better next year – and you can bet there’s going to be a next year!! We have some amazing match sponsors and we can’t thank them enough for all they have done to promote the Shootout and encourage match participation through their generous donations: MGM, Walther, Lone Star Innovations, Akai Custom Guns, On Your 6 Designs, Backwater Shooters, EMG Customs, Alamo Tactical (if you didn’t take your picture with or lay hands on that STI you were the only one). Monarch Trophy should be mentioned as well, they didn’t donate the trophies, but they bent over backwards to help RCSC shine with beautiful awards and break-neck turn around. Last but not least, Shiseido!! The ladies were out en force covering the shooters with skin care on Saturday, and left a generous package for the Shootout raffle. The shooters loved and needed their product all weekend though, so instead of raffling to some we made sunscreen available to all and it was a welcome treat. Thank you all again, for everything!!

NOW AWARDS!! If you haven’t already heard, please check out the list of trophy and raffle winners!! We couldn’t have wished for a more worthy bunch of recipients. To all the trophy winners, CONGRATULATIONS!! You all turned in a top-notch effort and it paid off. To all the raffle winners, CONGRATULATIONS!! We appreciate you in so many ways, and are grateful to be able to provide, on behalf of the sponsors, prizes to show our appreciation for your support of the Shootout!! The River City Shooters Club is very pleased to announce the 2nd Annual River City Shoot Out by MGM Targets!!

We’ve taken your suggestions to heart and moved the match from Fall to Spring to get everyone in gear for this season’s upcoming major matches, we’ve expanded the format to 2 days (you can shoot Saturday OR Sunday), and will be bringing in more bathrooms and concessions for your comfort and convenience.

  • Registration open 12/22/15 – 3/4/16 (no refunds or changes after
    registration closes 3/4/16)
  • $50 Entry fee
  • 170 Slots (7 squads of 10/ea day, walk on’s allowed if slots available)
  • 8 Challenging Stages (appx. 200 rnds)
  • Closed squadding and dedicated RO’s
  • Fri. 3/11 RO and staff shoot
  • Sat. 3/12 Main match – Day 1
  • Sun. 3/13 Main match – Day 2
  • Match begins at 9am sharp and ends at 3pm

UPDATE – MATCH CANCELLED
Hurricane Patricia has made landfall in Mexico, and that category 5 storm is sending some serious nastiness our way. Atiscosa has already issued a flash flood warning effective immediately, through Sunday morning – in the interest of safety for everyone involved, the River City Shooters Club has cancelled this Sunday’s USPSA match at the Blackhawk Shooting Range. If you have to be out and about this weekend please stear clear of low water crossings, as you all know they can be swift and deadly in So. Texas!! Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Mexico, struggling through what is already considered the worst storm in history.

Glock Sport Shooting Foundation Match – Oct 17-18

The countdown continues… in less than 15 days the Blackhawk Shooting Range will proudly sponsor the GSSF match, hosted by the River City Shooters Club!!

“The GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation is a safe, fun, family-oriented organization devoted to the responsible use of GLOCK firearms and encouraging participation in the shooting sports. Competitions, across the United States, provide opportunities for shooters of all skill levels and experience to compete together in simple, but challenging courses of fire. GSSF does not require the expensive equipment and extensive training often demanded by most other types of firearms competitions.

Started in 1991, GSSF has grown to include almost 100,000 members and now organizes more than 40 outdoor and over 210 indoor shooting matches each year—an unprecedented number. Almost anyone can join GSSF, but if you want to participate in a sanctioned sport shooting match, the only requirement is that you must compete with a GLOCK pistol. The only other requirement is that all of our competitors have fun! So we make that more of a “sure thing” by rewarding cash prizes, and GLOCK pistols, in multiple categories.

There are usually only two facial expressions observed at every match—aiming and smiling. Bring the whole family out to just one GSSF competition and you’re all likely to leave hooked!”

SATURDAY SET-UP UPDATE: Many thanks to Match Director Albert Salinas and his lean, mean, super set-up crew (Bert R. Pat H. & John C.), who dug in like men on a mission!! The weather was gorgeous today, and will be again tomorrow. We got a spritz of rain overnight, just enough to tamp down the dust. “Loki” has designed some mad-fun stages, and River City is all set for company – GAME ON!! See y’all tomorrow!!
